From the bus

We can tour Rio de Janeiro by bus and while we enjoy it, take some pics. Nothing professional, mind you, just using the opportunity - though I would recommend to do that in the buses that integrate with the subway. Cheap and comfortable (not in the rush hour, though), and specially in the weekends, they do not run like the common buses (meaning: mad), allowing a good view of the city and some surprising shots.


For instance, you can go from Botafogo to Jardim Botânico (Botanic Garden), and get to know it - it is a green sanctuary, protected by law and it was designated as a biosphere reserve by Unesco in 1992. It is one of the great tropical botanical gardens of the world. It was founded in 1808 by John, prince regent of the United Kingdom of Brazil and Portugal (later King John VI). Native Brazilian plants such as palms predominate (see photo). To get to Botafogo, you can use the subway.


But if you are only passing by, take your shots, pay attention to your stuff (I mean, don't show off, even though you can't hide you are a tourist, or at least different, the minute you start taking pictures), remember that it is not a tour bus - each time you hop in, you will pay a fare (R$ 2,80).
